DNS changes can take a few hours to 72 hours for the enitre internet. They have to get broadcast around to all the servers. Sometimes it is very quick for your particular ISP sometimes a little slower Most of the time I see them within 15-24 hours on our ISP. It all depends on how often your ISP updates DNS for you to see the change. Others may see it already. You do need to make an A record on your own host for the domain name to point correctly to your blog (if its only ip based.. if it is virtual you also need to point to the correct directory these settings should be on your panel for your blog.
